A Writer's Life📚Short Story Saturday. Meaghan Marie Hackinen

Meaghan Marie Hackinen is a writer and ultra-endurance cyclist from British Columbia's West Coast. Her two-wheeled adventures have taken her from Haida Gwaii to Mexico’s high plateaus, across Canada and the United States, and from North Cape to Tarifa along some of Europe’s highest paved roads. Meaghan is a Trans Am Bike Race, NorthCape4000, and Paris-Brest-Paris brevet finisher, as well as the 2019 24-Hour World Time Trial Champion and current course record holder in the Women’s Division.

She is the author of South Away: The Pacific Coast on Two Wheels (NeWest Press, 2019), finalist for the 2020 Kobo Emerging Writer Prize (non-fiction) as well as a 2020 Alberta Book Publishing Award (trade non-fiction). Meaghan has an MFA in Writing from the University of Saskatchewan and lives on the traditional, ancestral, unceded territory of the Syilx/Okanagan People in the Okanagan Valley.
